A Legacy Born in Craftsmanship
The story of Shifman Mattresses is one of dedication, vision, and enduring quality. Founded in 1893 by brothers Abraham and Samuel Shifman in Newark, New Jersey, A. Shifman & Bro. Mattress Company began with a simple but powerful idea: not all sleep is created equal. From their earliest days, the Shifman brothers set out to redefine the bedding industry, crafting mattresses that exemplified luxury, comfort, and integrity. In 1985, Mike Hammer — a seasoned bedding industry expert with over 22 years of experience in sales and manufacturing — acquired the Shifman Mattress Company, which has remained under the Hammer family’s ownership for more than 35 years.
